We pride ourselves on leading the change for our members in a challenging industry, championing the issues that concern our members, and creating a welcoming community for likeminded people.
Women in Hospitality (WOHO) was founded in 2016 by Julia Campbell after experiencing the value of community through her involvement in the not-for-profit group, Women Chefs and Restaurateurs in New York. The intention behind WOHO is to inspire, recruit and mentor women in the often male-dominated hospitality industry and to give them the confidence to back themselves in their professional development.
Initially starting in NSW, WOHO now features more than 700 members and has branched into QLD and WA, looking set to go national within the not too distant future. WOHO encompasses all facets of the hospitality industry and professionals at every career stage to create a greater resource for our community of members to leverage.
WOHO also enjoys a high-profile list of partners and sponsors who generously support WOHO and are keen to support women in the industry, and the events we undertake during the year. Integral to our Charter is providing the opportunity for our members to network, giving women access to a professional network that provides education, mentoring and forums to share information and experiences.
Our Mentor Program provides members with an opportunity to be inspired and gain hands-on experience and guidance from industry experts, leaders and generally experienced operators. We carefully cast the net wide in our search for mentors to ensure a diverse cross-section within the industry, and the calibre of mentors is exceptionally high to guarantee that all mentees get the best leadership available. Intakes for our program are annual, running for 6 months.
Membership with our organisation is free and valuable.
